CLUJ ROLL OVER

Manchester United has defeated CFR Cluj-Napoca in a Champions League match played at Stadionul Dr. Constantin Redulescu on Tuesday. Manchester United won the match by a close margin of 2-1. The Red Devils didn’t manage to win the match easily. They were given a run for their money by the Cluj-Napoca team.

This was the first defeat for Cluj-Napoca in the ongoing Champions League. In their first match, the White-Burgundies had performed brilliantly and secured an easy victory over the Braga team. They performed decently in this match as well, but, they didn’t manage to gather three points this time around.

The Cluj-Napoca team was playing on its home ground and a large crowd had turned up in their support. The White-Burgundies started brilliantly and took the lead in the 14th minute of the match. Pantelis Kapetanos was the one who found the net for Cluj-Napoca. The goal was set up by Modou Sougou who got rid of Evra near the left wing and then gave a low cross to Kapetanos. Kapetanos had to beat Ferdinand and Evans to enter the box and he did exactly that and then, smashed the ball past David De Gea to take his team ahead in the match.

It was a wakeup call for the Manchester United boys. The Red Devils started playing with a lot more aggression after getting trailed by 0-1. Manchester United succeeded in scoring the equalizer in the 29th minute. The United team earned a free kick and Wayne Rooney was the one who took that free kick. Rooney’s well placed shot came towards Robin Van Persie who jumped and headed it home with ease. This was the last goal to be scored before the half time break.

Manchester United managed to take a lead of 2-1 in the 4th minute of the second half when Robin Van Persie found the net for the second time in the match. Again, it was Wayne Rooney who set up the goal. The Cluj-Napoca team wasn’t able to score the leveller in the remaining time and lost the match.

Manchester United’s next match will be a Premier League encounter against Newcastle United on Sunday.
