Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart says that the team deserved to get a victory in the recent Champions League match against Sevilla.
This victory put the club’s hopes of qualification to the knockout stages back on track. After the opening game loss against Juventus, it looked like another campaign of European struggles for City. Despite dominating in the domestic league, the team has been unable to translate that form into European competitions. This is seen as a make or break campaign for manager Manuel Pellegrini, who saw his team secure another league victory in the competition.
City had managed a 2-1 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach in the previous round. There was once again horror for the club after Konoplyanka opened the scoring for Sevilla in the 30th minute. Rami’s own goal provided some respite for the Premier league table leaders, but it looked like they were heading for two more dropped points. Summer signing Kevin De Bruyne, though, had other ideas after he stepped up to score yet another late winner for the team. His goal came in the 91st minute and it was a perfect replica of their win against Mönchengladbach when Sergio Aguero scored a late goal.
This victory is a proper preparation for the upcoming Manchester derby during the weekend. “I don’t think that’s he secret, it’s just football against a top team.Sevilla have definitely earned themselves a place in this competition, they’ve won a lot of trophies over the last couple of years and they made it very difficult for us. They’d have been more happy with a draw than we would, but we knew we’d get chances and Kevin with a fantastic finish has won us the game. Certainly that’s somewhere we want to improve, but we want to improve all over the pitch,” said Hart.
